WELCOME

This is my blog (now there is a surprise!). I will be sticking in it poetry, prose, random musings, things that take my fancy and more than likely lots of pictures of cats. I hope you find something to amuse and/or interest you here.

Monday's Promts done on Tuesday.

Is it my fault if you lot can't get the time right? (LOL.)  This time zone lark makes keeping up tricky.

The Prompt from Monday Memories...is a memory of a sibling or an event, you can find them at http://memories-on-mondays.blogspot.com

Summer Memories.

The house I lived in when I was a kid
Had a old coal bunker out in the yard,
Long out of use, with three sides and no lid
It became the castle stronghold we’d guard.

A small private airfield was nearby,
Where gliders were launched high into the air
To soar and swoop while my brother and I
Pretended to shoot them, without a care.

Our guns, a pair of old stilts made of wood,
Our enemies, alien invaders.
We would shoot and kill as many as we could
Though they banked hard, and dipped to evade us.

Somehow it was never people we’d kill
The aliens summed up all that was bad,
There was nothing there to spoil the thrill,
We shared the good fun and the joy we had.

My brother kept score, counting our good shots,
I never wondered how he knew which hit
Somehow I killed few while he managed lots
And somehow it never mattered a bit.

My brother is gone, lost to more than death,
Depression stole him long before he died.
I could not grieve though pain tore every breath,
‘Til I saw a distant glider, and cried.

http://childrensverse.blogspot.com/ has given this picture prompt:

My bed is a boat,
At night I jump in
And off I will float,
Adventures begin.

Dancing with the elves
In a fairy ring,
Enjoying ourselves
While the firebirds sing.

Seeing far-off lands,
Animals talking,
Doing strange handstands
Instead of walking.

Sitting on the moon
Sandcastle making
But then all too soon
It’s time for waking.

Playtime in the day
Is fun, that is true.
So is the dream way
With my night time crew.

Finally, here is my response to Dodge's Tanka prompt.  http://dodgewrites.blogspot.com/, a constant source of inspiration!

Sadness

I have no heart left,
I shared it out with many
now I am empty
my soul's a void I'm hollow
I have no tears left to shed.

  4. What a beautiful, beautiful poem about your brother! I have someone I love in my family that deals with depression, so I know how difficult it can be, to love and sometimes to be so unable to help or take away the pain. I saw this poem as such a beautiful tribute to the brother you loved and played with growing up... a magical memory that I hope makes you smile as it did me! HUGS
