WELCOME

This is my blog (now there is a surprise!). I will be sticking in it poetry, prose, random musings, things that take my fancy and more than likely lots of pictures of cats. I hope you find something to amuse and/or interest you here.

Ode to my Reflection

Thou riseth from the water like a whale
To spout and blow and breathe in steamy air,
With fish-white belly and with skin so pale
And eyes so small and bead-like as they stare.
And like the whale you hoot and wail a tune
Which surely sounds much better aqueous?
You flounder on the land as on a dune
A stranded whale would surely wallow thus.
But no, a whale would have more muscle tone
Beneath the blubber tautening her skin
While you would surely sink just like a stone
If you were by the sea and so fell in.
Cetacean like though thou may thus appear
You really need to lose some pounds my dear.

I nearly called this "Where Not To Hang A Mirror"

Neglecting My Blog

It has been pointed out to me that I have neglected my blog.  I didn't post anything yesterday.
Shame on me!
There are two reasons for this.
  1. My regular sources of inspiration are either abscent due to other matters or on topics I can't get interested in at the moment.
  2. I am busy trying to write a book.
I know,  I am mad.  (Actually, I have a certificate saying i am not!)
So, there just aren't enough hours in the day.

By way of apology I offer....
Um.  Err.  A promise to do better tomorrow?

Okay.  How about a monotertra?

Here's my try:

Ah! Here’s the winter poetry
Lets all wallow in misery
As though the spring we’ll never see
Oh woe is me, Oh woe is me.

Let’s push all thoughts of joy away
And sit and mourn throughout the day
Pretend that winters icy play
Our hearts do fray, our hearts do fray.

Come; let the seasons take their turn
For each his rightful place does earn
And though we for the warmth do yearn
We must learn, we must learn.

Summer, Autumn, Winter and spring
For Natures sake must have their fling,
And each their own enchantments bring
To let birds sing, to let birds sing.

Summer brings plenty in its day
Autumn prepares with bedtime play
For Winters sleep of restful grey
‘Til Spring’s bouquet, ‘til Spring’s bouquet.

So greet each season cheerfully
No matter what weather you see
For we need this eternally
For life to be, for life to be.

What do you think?
